boats – we have been left with a pretty big challenge. We don’t want to send
over boats that are overweight, run down or falling to bits as this will only
put them off the class. So far we have sourced two snowball hulls
that are close to minimum. Both are quite old and need a bit of love. The first is a bare hull with a couple of
layers of paint on it plus plenty of dirt an mould. Ben has taken it upon
himself to sand this boat back to near bare glass, patch it up and respray it so
it should come up looking the goods. From her we need to fit it out and
put a rig, foils and sails on it. The second boat is Trilogy, the Victorian
Association boat that they have kindly offered to us to use. This boat is in
better condition but may still need a bit of hull work , a wet rub and a good
buff and polish. This boat has spars and foils but will probably need
newer ropes, sails and a few fittings. We know that over the years we all tend to
build up a stock pile of spares, so hopefully if we all go through our bits and
pieces and contribute what we can, we can put together enough to get the boats
up and running. Below is a list of roughly what we need to
get together.
The fireball is a high performance two-person sailing dinghy offering exciting sailing, intense competition and a great social life off the water. It has a wide appeal as it is simple to build, reasonably priced and not too demanding to sail. The Fireball is sailed at many clubs across Australia, check out the States page to find out more about State Associations and clubs. With club sailing, State, National and World championships whatever your skill level there's Fireball sailing for you.
